Parvathi Menon who entered filmdom through Malayalam movies has completed her first Tamil and Kannada movies successfully.  Parvathi entered Malluwood with ‘Out of Syllabus’ and then she continued her career in Malluwood doing two more movies titled ‘Notebook’ and ‘Vinodayathra’. The movie ‘Notebook’ received a lot of accolades and with this success she entered Kannada film industry. Her debut film ‘Milana’ opposite Puneet Rajkumar. The movie was a record breaking hit.

She was out of Kannada movies for two years and concentrated in Tamil and Malayalam movies. She did critically acclaimed movies ‘Poo’ in Tamil and ‘Flash’ in Malayalam. Now Parvathi Menon is back to sandalwood. She is right now working in ‘Male Barali Manju Erali’ opposite Kitti.

Upendra and Vijay are to test their good luck charms this Friday. Yes. Both the heroes in Kannada have got their releases on the same good day. Upendra will have ‘Dubai Babu’ which will be a remake of ‘Dubai Seenu’ which was a hit in Telugu starring Ravi Teja and Nayantara. Upendra believes that he can taste success with another remake as of his previous movie ‘Buddhivantha’ which was a remake of Tamil movie ‘Naan Avan Illai’. The upcoming movie will have Upendra and Nikitha in lead roles.

Nikitha was able to see success with her latest release ‘Saroja’ both in Tamil and Telugu. Now she is testing the waters in Kannada. Similarly the success pair of ‘Chanda’ is coming together again in another movie titled ‘Thaakath’. Vijay and Shubha Punja can be expected to create the same magic as of their last movie together.

Actor turned director Ramesh Aravind in Kannada film industry is all set to direct his fourth picture which is yet to be named. This untitled movie by Ramesh Aravind is said to be another full length comedy movie like ‘Rama Shama Bhama’. In his upcoming movie Ramesh Aravind will be playing the role of a cop. This movie is said to have two heroines playing the lead role in the movie.

A corporate company from Bangalore by the name Sinema House has shown interest in the producing the movie with the actor cum director Ramesh Aravind. The music for this movie will be scored by Rickey Kej who impressed everyone in his debut Kannada movie ‘Accident’. PKH Das is said to handle the camera for the movie.

Kannada playwright and actor Girish Karnad, elected ad a World Theatre Ambassador of UNESCO’s International Theatre Institute, has said the honour reflected the importance of getting good English translations done of works of Indian literature.

The International Theatre Institute was founded 60 years ago with UNESCO aid to promote an “International exchange of knowledge and practice in theatre arts in order to consolidate peace and friendship…”

Girish Karnad was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1992 and the Bharatiya  Jnanpith in 1999. The luminaries who share the honour include American theatre director Ellen Stewart, German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch, British director Peter Brook and Nobel laureate Dario Fo.

Sivaji and Kuruvi fame villain actor Suman had visited Penchalakona, a temple of lord Nrisimhaswami in Nellore district to offer prayers to the lord. The temple priests of the temple had ordered a traditional welcome to the actor.

He was guided by different pandits to perform special poojas for various deities in the temple. He said that though it was his dream to visit the temple, it wasn’t possible for the last fifteen years, but came into reality now. He distributed sarees, blankets and dhotis to the poor.

He assured that he would soon be a director for a family entertainer. Currently, he is busy with seven films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

The forthcoming Kannada movie ‘Prachana Ravana’ has completed its shooting in just 52 days says the director cum producer Srinivas Prasad. The shooting took place at various parts of the city like Bangalore palace, Mangalore Beach, Surathkal, G V Iyer studio etc. Srinivas Prasad also added that the movie has 20 minutes of graphics that is sure to entertain the audience. Devaraj plays the lead role. This mythological film is a experiment of a brand new team. We wish them good luck.

‘Antharu’ is the forthcoming Kannada movie, which is actually a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Pithamagan’. This Kannada movie is starred by Upendra and Darshan. Earlier the film was titled as Hari Hara, Harichandra but now the movie has been officially titled as Anatharu. This movie is being produced by Munirathana and directed by Sadhu Kokila. Reliable sources say that 100 days of shooting has already been completed and the film is now under the recording and dubbing stage. The female lead role is played by Radhika.

The Gold trust International has decided to release 4999 Gold and silver coins in which the image of veteran Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar will be engraved. Earlier late veteran Tamil movie actor Dr Shivaji Ganeshan was also honored similarly by the gold trust international. Dr Rajkumar is the first person to be honored in Karnataka.

Prakash Raj is returning back into Kannada film industry after one year. His last Kannada film was ‘Aajay’ which starred Puneet Raj Kumar in the lead role and Prakash Raj handled the negative role. Currently Prakash Raj has signed up for a new movie ‘Geleya’ where Prajwal Devaraj plays the lead role and the movie is produced for Mookambika Productions. The female lead role is handled by Kiran. 25 days of shoot has already been completed and the second half shooting has begun from April 23.

Dr.Rajkumar Abhimanagala Sangha which is headed by Sa Ra Govindu, H D Gangaraju former president of Karnataka film chamber of commerce and Mohan Rao, propraiter of Navyug hotel joined hands in inaugurating the bronze statue of the late Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar. This bronze statue is installed in the Kempe Gowda circle. Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy uncovered the statue in the presence of Mrs Rajkumar and sons of Dr Rajkumar.
