The pop star Rihanna who shot to fame with few releases has been awarded the Women of the Year by the Glamour magazine. The function held at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She accepted this award for the year 2009 during the annual award show of the magazine. The supermodel Iman gave away the award to Rihanna. With her recent hit, ‘Umbrella’, Rihanna was seen happy receiving this award.
She dedicated the award to her entire family. During the function, she said, “I love being a part of a night where we’re celebrating women and such strong women. I really look up to my granny and my mom. They are my two women of the year. They’ve shown me what strong women can accomplish and achieve. Without their unconditional love and guidance, I wouldn’t be here.”
